From Het Wilgenbroek to Helleborus BV
If you want to brighten up your garden, park or town in early spring, you can't ignore Hellebores. This evergreen perennial flowers from January onwards and brings colour to the darkest months of the year – a source of life and joy for both humans and insects.
At Helleborus BV, everything revolves around this special plant. With more than 125 varieties in our range and our own breeding programme, we are building the future of Helleborus every day. With respect for people, the environment and the rhythm of the plant, we are working on a range that brings colour and life to winter worldwide.
More than 125 Helleborus varieties
Innovation & breeding
All our plants are hand-pollinated, and every year we develop new selections that meet the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and flowering performance. Thanks to intensive breeding work, we introduce varieties that:
-
flower for a longer period,
-
show greater resistance to diseases,
-
and require less energy during cultivation (Helleborus is a cold-loving plant, ideal for natural outdoor growing).
Today, we export 90% of our production to countries across Europe, America, Asia, and even South Africa – regions where warm summers and cold winters create the ideal conditions for Helleborus.

For professionals and enthusiasts
We supply:
-
Young plants (from February) to growers worldwide.
-
Finished / flowering plants (from September) to garden centers and wholesalers.
In addition, every February we open our doors to the general public at our sister company, plant center Het Wilgenbroek in Oostkamp. During these open days, international florists present the newest selections and floral creations, allowing enthusiasts to experience our passion for Helleborus up close.
More than a winter-flowering plant
Helleborus has meanwhile become popular not only as a winter-flowering plant, but also as an evergreen ground cover. With selections such as Snow Love and Candy Love, we offer low-maintenance plants that thrive both in public green spaces and in private gardens.
